The Tasman Car Scramble Club was formed in this year along with the first race meeting being held in November of 1968. Racing was held on Sunday afternoons at Lansdowne Road, Richmond.
In the year 1969 the first Championship was held in March, with the prize money going from 1st = $40, 2nd = $30, 3rd = $20 and 4th = $12 and the entry fee of 50 cents per driver.
Nine race dates were set from the AGM of Tasman Stock Car Club for the 69/70 season with the prize money going from 1st = $3, 2nd = $2, 3rd = $1 and also an appearance = $2, Grid = 50cents and a roll = $2.
In 1970 there was clay added to the track, the first social committee formed and also a new teapot purchased for the tent.
In 1971 cement was mixed with the clay in one of the track corners.
In this seasons year, there were nine set race dates and also more clay added to the track. Rothmans sponsored the club $800 and also 5000 cigarettes.
There was a special meeting held to discuss the issue of the petrol crisis and the outcome was to be that there would still be racing but the race meetings would be shortened.
