History 1974 to 1984

1974

In this year there was the purchase of the floodlight for a total of $5100 and the first night meeting was held.

The name of the club was changed to Nelson Stock Car Club Inc, and also this year was the introduction of the saloon cars

1976

This year was the first year that the two day Easter Meeting was held and Cecil Woodford was named a Honorary Member

1977

There was a total gross turnover of $21000 for this year.

1978

The Club became affiliated to Speedway Control Board of NZ and purchased land for $28000 and a $500 deposit was paid.

Another Honorary member was named, Ivan Rasmussen.

1980

The control tower was built for the use by commentator, lapscorers, referee, stewards office, equipment shed and the pit steward's office

Another Honorary member was named, Wayne Sowman.

1981/1982

The class sidecars were introduced and the Top of the South Tigers was the official name for the stock car team.

Honorary member named, Barbara Hammond.

1983

Streetstock class was introduced with a $3 starting fee and the prize money being 1st = $5, 2nd = $4, 3rd = $3, 4th = $2 and 5th = $1.
