At this time the club name was changed to Nelson Speedway Association Inc

The clubrooms were built and refurbished and also the power supply was upgraded, along with the re-lay of the track by Howeys.

The purchase adjoining the Gun Club property.

The Three Quarter Midgets were also introduced in these years.

Rod Penn was named an Honorary Member.

The junior membership was formed sponsored by Thomason Paint and Panel with the cost of $5 for the membership and a badge for 0-15year olds.

State of the Art Floodlights were installed and also a re-lay of the track surface.

The clubrooms were redecorated and there was an alarm system installed, and also the last payment of the land was made.

The sub became $40 for a single and $65 for a double, and Wallboards were introduced with advertising around the fenceline.

The Streetstock Grand Slam was renamed to Club Champinship and the production saloons became a stand alone invitation class.

The track corners was redone with the clay out the running line
